This course provides a broad overview of contemporary sociological theories on information societies. It aims at giving students sociological ideas which will help to grasp various social phenomena in clearer or deeper level.

After completing this course, you will be able to:
1). Understand basic ideas or concepts of sociology.
2). Understand the problem which contemporary sociological theories attempt to solve.

|

The teacher gives not only lectures but also chances for students to participate actively in the class. Students are asked to give presentations on the part of the textbook of the course and to take part in the discussions on it.

Students are required to read some part of the textbook in advance. Related literatures are shown in every class for further study.

Evaluation will be based on the reports of the assigned sessions and comments made in class.
(1) 60% (1, 3) of the reports students are responsible for
(2) 40% (1, 3) for comments in class
Class attendance is a minimum requirement.
