This course encourages students to pursue specific and in-depth research topics related to sociological theories and organize their thoughts toward their graduation theses.

The aim for students is to complete their graduation theses: to create their own ideas and express them in an organized and convincing way.
|
|
|
This course follows the policy of the Faculty of Social and Information Studies in aiming to cultivate those students: 1). who possess the comprehensive, interdisciplinary knowledge necessary for understanding in broad perspective and some field of specialized knowledge through which they seek deeper knowledge of society and humanity. 2). who can identify the issues of society relating to production, distribution, processing, accumulation, and utilization of information, and can scientifically analyze and investigate them.

The students are required to read related literatures critically and try to develop their original ideas and organize them in theses.

Tutorials, presentations, question-and-answer sessions, and discussions.

In order to know what are their own original ideas, students have to read many related literatures. Students are encouraged to read as much as possible, and to try to think hard to find their original ideas.

|
Both the graduation thesis and the presentation in the meeting are obligatory. Graduation thesis is required to: 1). have a well-defined research question. 2). be based upon enough examination of related literatures. 3). be critical to related literatures and be original. 4). be based upon reasonable positive data which support the assertion of the thesis. 5). be organized in the correct format, especially in references or quotations.

Students are required to attend Social and Information Studies Seminar before taking this course.
|

|
Graduation thesis is the culmination of your four years of study in the university. It should be something original and creative.
