授業の目的

[Logic and Computation]

This is one of the introductory courses of computer science. It aims to provide students the basic knowledge of logic and its relation to computation.

授業の到達目標

Upon completion of this course, participants will have basic knowledge of:

　　• binary, octal, decimal, and hexadecimal numbers
　　• propositional logic
　　• logical operations like AND, OR, NOT, or EXOR
　　• logic gates
　　• truth table
　　• Karnaugh map
　　• logic circuits like Half Adder and Full Adder

授業概要

Many basic topics related to logics and computation are to be learned through lectures and discussions. Students are encouraged to read the textbook and reference materials before attending classes. It is also advisable to spend much time preparing for oral discussions, small tests, and small examinations.

This is a lecture style class. Students are expected to bring their computer.

授業時間外学修情報
「学修」とは授業と授業時間外の予習・復習などを含む概念です。1単位につき45時間の学修が必要です。
学則で定められている1単位の時間数は次のとおりです。
講義・演習　　　　授業15～30時間、授業時間外30～15時間
実験・実習・実技

This is a normal 2-credit course, which basically means that in addition to the scheduled meeting times, students are expected to do at least 3 hours of course-related work outside of class each week during the session. This includes work done completing assigned readings, preparing written assignments, studying for tests and examinations, and other course-related tasks.

成績評価基準（授業評価方法）及び関連するディプロマポリシー

During the term, small examinations (A, B) and the final examination (A, B) are held. There also will be hand-written reports (A, B, C). Assessment will be based on: small examinations and the final examination (total 60%), and hand-written reports (total 40%). (Full attendance is included in this calculation.)
